I find it hard not to eat from this bakery everyday.. feel so lucky that we have a place like this in our little town! Thanks Proto for the amazing pastry, coffee and bread!

The absolute BEST bakery I've ever visited!! Super friendly magical bakers, making the most delicious, fresh bakes. Truly awesome. They are clearly passionate about what they do. Tried their pretzel bread today and I literally have no words! Best sausage rolls I've ever had too. Oh, and great coffee! If you like quality, artisan freshly baked goods then get yourself down to Proto pronto!

So so so delicious! All the bakes are made on site. Everything is always super fresh. I’ve visited this place many times and it never disappoints (unless my favourite Cinnamon bum is sold out). Bakes change on daily basis. I recommend focaccia, cinnamon buns and cheesecake pastry.

Truly delightful bakers in town. Harry was extremely friendly in service and we kept coming back. The sourdough crust is perfectly moist yet crispy and we polished off the entire focaccia within a short span. Their pastries tend to get sold out pretty quickly and we couldn’t grab some when we landed late in the afternoon. But we have heard well about their speciality bread loaves and can’t wait to recommend them enough.

Best bakery around. Lovely fresh hand made cakes, pizza, sandwiches.. the meatball sub on a Monday is unreal. Made fresh to order and worth every penny.

The team of bakers are magicians! I’ve had the best croissant and bread here. The staff are so sweet and helpful under the guidance of the owner (I think her name was Joe). Even the coffee was fabulous!

Just the absolute best bakery run by incredible people. Whenever someone comes to visit us we bring them to Proto and they LOVE it. Incredible pastries, amazing inventions and the best ingredients. Also, they’re incredibly generous with their quantities. I can’t recommend Proto enough, always worth a visit

My favorite stop now, on the way to Hertford. The have The Gentlemen Baristas coffee beans, which mean a great coffee! Pizza pie slices are very filling! But beware of round croissants with cream! They are too big for one person))) Full of delicious cream inside! But really enough for 4 people 🍩 Team is always welcoming, and happy to chat if it’s not busy.

What an amazing place... I don't know any where else you can get these incredible bakes... All with a unique twist... An open kitchen where you can see the fresh produce being made... The smell of freshly baked bread is wonderful. You can grab a coffee as well... Maybe take them down to the canal to enjoy or there are 4 stools inside and 2 small tables outside... What ever you do don't miss out!!
